״עץ חיים היא למחזיקים בה
ותמכיה מאושר״
First, we begin by acknowledging your part in the Beit Midrash, studying, in establishing, and concern for its development.
The Need:
Blessed is the Beit Midrash in recent times a beautiful growth, the various frameworks stabilize We established new beit midrashim and study tracks. To advance the goals we started this year, we need a more stable financial back beyond our outbound and inbound. We would love for anyone who can give it a hand.
The basic immediate target for establishing the existing programs and opening the news is: NIS 100,000
Timing:
We are facing significant support of several tens of thousands of shekels from a certain 'believer' foundation in our way and would also like to be part of Torah growth among working people. However, this nonprofit is donating the aid to Minging - the same amount will be put in parallel from other sources of funding, and they will double it.
So at this point all we have to raise is: NIS 50,000
Recruitment:
We decided to embark on an internal recruitment campaign aimed at those who are part of the association and connected to its goals and aspirations. We thought it would be right to start with the inner circles and at more advanced stages to appeal to wider audiences.
So we welcome you and ask for assistance at your personal level or contact relevant people for donation so that we can advance all the goals that lie ahead.
The need for this donation at the moment we are in is real and necessary, so that we can indeed establish the programs that have already begun with your help.
What is “Chai Bahem?
We believe that a working person is an inseparable part of the world of Torah.
Serious, meaningful Torah study amongst those who work full time or are full time university students is both crucial for the learners themselves and for the sake of the development of Torah within the real world. Our programs integrate in-depth content with technical skill building, providing the participants with an entry to a world of serious learning within their day-to-day life. Our vision not only enables our students to achieve their own learning goals within the framework of the demands of their daily schedules but also enriches their learning by bringing it into contact with the life-experience of our participants’ professional and personal worlds. The learning is an active experience which bears fruit both in the lives of the learners as well as in the development of the Torah in our modern world.
How did we get started?
Ten years ago we began as a weekly learning program in Gush Etzion (Rosh Tzurim) with 20-30 learners, learning a different subject each year. Five years ago we established the non-profit “Chai Bahem,” which has become a full-fledged independent and government recognized non-profit organization. Over the last five years we have grown from two parallel programs to eleven simultaneous programs with two major tracks in six different locations covering a wide range of topics, and we are well on our way to offering programs country-wide. At the moment there are 250 students enrolled in our full tracks, and another 300 students in our minor tracks.
Brief Overview of our Programs:
Online Programs - Connecting Torah and Life
Chai B’horaa - Torah in Education - This program, for Rabbis and Judaic studies teachers, focuses on providing tools for educators that emphasize the relevance of Torah and how it connects to the world of the students. For instance, we encourage studying gemara learning alongside modern court cases. There are currently 30-35 participants. We also conduct open days of study for the general public and for educational professionals in high schools and post-high school yeshivot.
Chai B’mishpat - Torah in the Legal System - Our second program, which puts an emphasis on research and writing, integrates the Jewish legal system with modern legal systems in Israel and throughout the world. The program currently has some 100 registered participants. We host open learning sessions/lectures for the public on current legal/halachic issues that draw crowds of 100-130 people from the legal field (Lawyers, Judges, Arbiters, Policemen) as well as educators and scholars.
Chai B’kalkala - Torah in the Economy - Coming soon with God’s help. 120 people attended the opening seminar, several dozen of which voiced a desire for a regular ongoing program. Pending financial support, building the program and getting it off the ground is our next challenge.
Chai B’Nefesh - Torah in Psychology - Coming soon with God’s help. The content of the program has been built, and we look forward to our opening seminar next month (50 people have signed up already). The program is in need of a financial foundation in order to be established.
